A few of my favorite things...

As a kick-start for myself, I've decided to jump on-board with Friend-Makin Mondays over on Amber's blog.

So, in keeping with this week's topic....Here are a few things I can't live without! =)

(in reverse order)
5. Coca-Cola (Life becomes a little dark hole without my daily dose of caffeine.)
4. Computers (Ah, the love-hate relationship with the internet...It's all so sad.)

3. Music (I've pictured the iPod because it has truly revolutionized my life. haha How sad is that? This little gadget has made traveling, sleeping, thinking, writing, and so much else MUCH easier and more enjoyable.)

2. My cell phone (Yes, I have a Blackberry, and, yes, I am completely addicted!)

And, the most important thing is......

1. Books

Must I really clarify that God and my family are both understood to be outside this list? =)

See you soon!

Impatient waiting...

I LOVE FALL!
Unfortunately, it's not here yet, so I'm stuck dreaming about it. =) So, to help everyone get as impatient as I am, I thought I'd post some thoughts and dreams other people have had about my favorite season. Enjoy!

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

--Albert Camus

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.

--Edwin Teale

There is a harmony
In autumn, and a lustre in its sky,
Which through the summer is not heard or seen,
As if it could not be, as if it had not been!

--Percy Bysshe Shelley

Autumn’s the mellow time.

--William Allingham

No spring, nor summer beauty hath such grace,
As I have seen in one autumnal face.

--John Donne

I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer, but it is too proud. So I like best of all autumn, because its tone is mellower, its colours are richer, and it is tinged with a little sorrow. Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor the power of summer, but of the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and its content.

Backyard (Almost) Get-Together

Had some near-excitement at my house today. We don't have any pets, but my neighbor is an avowed Cat-Lady who brings every stray she sees home in order to find it a loving new family. This, of course, makes for some interesting scenarios with the permanent residents.

Meet Sir:
Beautiful fluffball and all-around darling kitty.

Meet the new kid (name unknown):
Pretty, isn't he?

Looks, however, can be deceiving. =) Not that he wasn't very sweet: he loved being petted and had the silkiest fur. And not that he wasn't friendly: purred and cuddled and rubbed against my legs. Unfortunately, he's also VERY territorial. He wouldn't let Sir (who actually lives at the house behind mine) get within 10 feet of him without growling or hissing.

For his part, Sir just seemed kind of bemused by the whole experience. He kept trying to go over and be friendly, just to get hissed at by a rather ticked-off little kitty.

Not a happy face, is it? =)
